The Champions League quarterfinals will include the Inter vs Arsenal match. At first glance, they seem to be two equally strong squads. Their performance is top-notch, and they are now ranked first in their respective championships.
Arsenal appears to be facing difficulties. The club’s recent results illustrate this, with only two victories in five matches across all competitions. Certainly, the team that sees itself as a contender for the championship in the EPL and aims to win the Champions League cannot allow such a situation to occur.
The Gunners cannot be described as unfortunate. They experienced setbacks in a few matches – in the Premier League, they were defeated by Bournemouth and Newcastle (0:2 and 0:1), teams they could have confidently overcome in different circumstances. In another draw, Arteta’s team faced Liverpool, where they spent the entire second half focused on maintaining the score, lacking initiative – the match ended 2:2. Currently in the EPL standings, the club is slightly trailing behind the leaders.
‘Inter’ has maintained an impressive unbeaten streak for quite some time, with their last defeat occurring in September during the Milan derby (1:2). Since then, the club has predominantly secured victories. It only once shared points in Serie A with Juventus in a remarkable 4:4 match. In other matches, Inzaghi’s team has performed impressively, securing victories through pragmatic approaches with narrow margins and in a more commanding fashion, such as 4:0 and 3:0. So far, only Napoli has outperformed others in the Italian championship. The gap between them has now reduced to one point.
The competitors have performed comparably in the Champions League thus far – two victories and one draw. They exchanged points with equally formidable teams from their respective championships. Therefore, Inter managed to secure a draw against Manchester City (0:0), and Arsenal also ended in a stalemate with Atalanta (0:0). Milan’s remaining two matches were considerably more straightforward – a 4-0 victory against Crvena Zvezda and a 1-0 win over Young Boys. The Gunners, in contrast, achieved a convincing 2-0 victory against PSG and a predictable 1-0 triumph over Shakhtar.
