BBC to Launch UEFA Champions League Highlights Show in 2024
The BBC has secured the rights to broadcast UEFA Champions League highlights for the next three seasons, starting in 2024/25. This exciting development will bring one of the most prestigious club football tournaments to a wider audience across the UK for free on the BBC’s accessible platforms.
What to Expect
- A dedicated highlights show will air every Wednesday during Champions League match weeks at 22:40 BST on BBC One
- Match-by-match highlights will be available at 22:00 BST on BBC iPlayer, the BBC Sport website, and app
- Clips will also be shared across BBC’s social media channels for fans to access key moments wherever they are
- The first show on August 14th will feature a special segment on the UEFA Super Cup match between Real Madrid and Atalanta
Expanded Champions League Format
- The 2024/25 season will see the Champions League expand from 32 to 36 teams, with all participants organized in a single league table. The competition will feature 17 rounds in total: 8 group stage matches from September 17 to January 29
- A new play-off round for teams finishing between 9th and 24th
- The top 8 teams will automatically progress to the last 16, while teams placed 9th to 24th will enter the new playoff round
