Two teams with promising starts to the fresh Championship season will go head-to-head on Saturday when Blackburn Rovers take on Oxford United.
The boss John Eustace will be excited with Blackburn’s strong start to the season, particularly considering their difficult campaign last year and the recent departure of their top scorer, Sammie Szomodics, before their last league game. Rovers kicked off the season with an impressive 4-2 victory over Derby County, followed by a dominant 6-1 triumph against Stockport County in the Carabao Cup First Round. They travelled to Norwich City the previous weekend and secured a commendable 2-2 draw.
Oxford manager Des Buckingham feels satisfied with his players’ season. They started well with a 2-0 win against Norwich City and another 2-0 win over Peterborough in the Carabao Cup. However, Coventry City beat them 3-2 away from home last Saturday. Haji Wright won it for the host side in the 96th minute. Oxford finished 8th in the early Championship, four places behind today’s opponents. Rovers are among three four-point teams.
