Chasing Salah, Aguero and Shearer: Haaland on his way to records

Erling Haaland

If there was some question as to whether Erling Haaland was the right man for Manchester City before the start of the season, there is no doubt now. He is precisely the man Josep Guardiola’s team was missing. And after an impressive season start in England, it is possible to speculate how far this Norwegian will go in his scoring exploits. There has been some talk of his ability to produce high results only in Germany, where there is a different level of resistance in the defence.

Ten goals in six English Premier League games made the critics shut up. Erling repeated the 1992 record held by Micky Quinn, who scored ten goals in his first six matches. No one had scored more in that interval. Haaland is already one of the main favourites to win the Golden Boot.

And, of course, if he stays at City long enough, he could also make his mark on a number of notable goal-scoring records. He has many fans who are confident in his goal-scoring talents and could often bet on him with a promising BoyleSports sign up offer. Let’s take a look at his chances in this field and see what the current APL records are for strikers.

Mohamed Salah set an insane record when he scored 32 goals in the Premier League in the 2017/18 season. That was one more than Luis Suarez, also tearing it up for Liverpool. The Uruguayan’s achievement was set in the 2013/14 season. On both occasions, it seemed as though the records were mind-boggling and not soon to be broken. But Suarez’s achievement didn’t last long. And now Haaland is threatening to surpass Salah’s achievement.

Sergio Aguero set the best goals-to-minutes ratio (108 minutes per goal). Haaland is now averaging a goal in 48 minutes. It is clear that he will not be able to maintain that pace over the long term. It is doubtful that he will average two or one-and-a-half goals per game. But if that were to happen, it would take Haaland two years for the same number of goals Aguero scored in six years. Of course, that won’t happen in reality. He has, by the way, already repeated Aguero’s one local record – scoring six goals in his first four EPL games.

A more global target for Haaland is the result of Aguero, who has netted 12 hat-tricks in his England career. It all depends on how long Holland plays at City. So far, it looks like it has been an acquisition for years.

A record that can be made up especially for Haaland and his goal-scoring pace is to win the Golden Boot by scoring more goals than matches have been played. He has now picked up a fantastic rhythm and has the potential to be that unique record-breaker.

Alan Shearer is the current record holder for the most goals in the Premier League. Kane has been working hard and systematically to reach this achievement, but if Haaland keeps up his insane run, he will have broken that record by 2025.

It’s important to remember that Haaland is only 22 years old. He could spend, perhaps, a dozen years at a high level. It’s such a vast space to destroy all sorts of records.
