Every World Cup offers players a chance to put themselves in the shop window. Naturally, their main focus is to perform on the pitch and drive their country as deep into the tournament as possible.

On the back of team success, there is always the opportunity to attract the attention of potential new clubs. Here are five such players who could be set for big money moves as soon as the European transfer window opens at the start of 2023.

Cody Gakpo: The Netherlands

Young Dutch striker Cody Gakpo is no stranger to the gossip columns. During the previous transfer window, the 23-year-old was linked with a number of clubs including Leicester City, Leeds United and Nottingham Forest.

With all due respect to those teams, the player’s stock has risen since the start of the Eredivisie season and Gakpo is now believed to be a target for some powerhouse teams across Europe. AC Milan, Real Madrid and Manchester United are among the current suitors.

Cody Gakpo has been with current club PSV Eindhoven since 2018, and he averages around a goal every three games. He’s maintained that ratio with the Dutch national team and a positive World Cup could cement one of those big money moves.

Declan Rice

It’s no secret that a number of Premier League clubs covet Declan Rice’s signature. A move in January may seem unlikely, but it could all depend on whether his current team West Ham United continue to get dragged into a relegation battle.

The Hammers have made a poor start to the campaign and sat in 12th place after their first ten games. They are just three points above the drop zone and, according to online betting sites as sourced by SBO.net, they are a possible outside bet to go down.

If West Ham continue to slide, Chelsea could be the team to make a move for Declan Rice. Readers can monitor the situation via the website where those market odds will be updated on the back of each result.

Along with betting prices, SBO also publish news updates and opinion pieces. There’s also transfer betting and anyone wishing to get more directly involved is able to do so. Each sportsbook referenced here is ready to take on new players, subject to eligibility and a completed sign up form.

That registration process is fast and secure and players will usually be able to use up a welcome promotion once it’s complete. There is a choice of funding methods to help with covering qualifying bets while customer services will assist if needed.

Those who choose to play regularly can access other benefits. A choice of additional sports, live betting markets and a mobile app should be in place. This is the site to follow any form of football betting but, the chances of Declan Rice moving will be enhanced if his West Ham team are facing the drop.

Jesus Ferreira: USA

Center forward Jesus Ferreira may have a modest scoring record for his FC Dallas franchise, but he’s impressed at international level. In his opening 15 games for the USMNT, the 21-year-old has found the net on no fewer than seven occasions.

He’s still raw and there are very few transfer rumors attached to his name, but a solid showing at the World Cup could change all that.

Gavi: Spain

Talented Barcelona teenager Gavi recently hit the headlines due to his stalling over a new contract. The reports attracted the attention of some big clubs around Europe including Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

The midfielder has since renewed that contract, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that a transfer will not materialise if the player makes an impression at the World Cup.

Jamal Musiała: Germany

Another player to be linked with a big money move to Liverpool, Jamal Musiała already plays for one of the giants of the game. At the age of 19, he’s featured on the wing for Bayern Munich since making his debut in 2020.

Having lost the prolific Robert Lewandowski in the summer, Bayern will want to keep the teenager on their books. Musiala has contributed some useful goals at the start of the new season, but the lure of Liverpool might just be too hard to turn down.
