Jacob “Ghost” Mulee Appointed New Harambee Stars Coach

Football Kenya Federation announced the re-appointment of Jacob “Ghost” Mulee as the new Harambee Stars head coach. The appointment came as a surprise to punters on Betway soccer betting and Kenyan soccer fans following the developments closely. It was a surprising appointment because Mulee has not actively coached a team for the last ten years.

His appointment came after the Kenyan national football team opted to part ways with former coach Francis Kimanzi on October 20 on mutual agreement. Kimanzi’s dismissal was also a surprise as he had led the Harambee Stars to a win against Zambia earlier this month. Many sports commentators are still questioning the appointment and whether Ghost is an upgrade to Kimanzi.

The new manager was unveiled on October 21, and his first order of business will be to guide the Harambee Stars back to the Total African Cup of Nations, which will be held in Cameroon in 2022. He is also expected to lead the team to give a strong shot at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, which will begin in June 2021.

The newly reelected FKF President Nick Mwendwa stated that the Federation considered Ghost because “he is Kenyan and understands Kenyan football.” In his statement, Nick also said that the new manager who led the national team to the 2004 AFCON in Tunisia is capable of doing it again. Punters on Betway will be keenly following his performance as they try to come to terms with this shocking appointment.

Jacob “Ghost” Mulee had four previous stints as Harambee Stars coach, and the highlight of his career was guiding the team to the 2004 African Cup of Nations in 2004 in Tunisia. He also led the team to several CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup triumphs. Ghost has also served as Tusker FC coach, during which he won three league titles. He has also coached Rwanda’s APR and Young Africans of Tanzania.

During his unveiling, the tactician thanked the Federation for trusting him to guide the National Team to the AFCON and World Cup. He reiterated that he had an in-depth conversation with the Federation and understood their expectation. Ghost also acknowledged that it is a challenging task with tough games coming up against Comoros. Punters on Betway would use his first match back as Harambee Stars coach to decide whether he is a safe pair of hands.

In his preparation, Ghost named his technical bench as he prepares to silence his critics. He named Twahir Muhiddin, Ken Odhiambo, and William Muluya to form part of his backroom staff. The tactician also appointed Haggai Azande as the goalkeeper trainer, with Lawrence Webo stepping down. The FKF gave the new coach a free hand in selecting his backroom staff.
