After that, Holmes moved from the Forty Acres to Baltimore as a free agent back in 1997. While at the Kansas City Chiefs, he managed to be a Pro Bowl running back three times. In the 11 seasons he spent at the NFL, Holmes rushed for 8,172 yards and 72 TDs.
His other accolades include winning the Super Bowl XXXV while at the Ravens. He also made it to the All-Pro selection three times from 2001 to 2003. In 2006, he was enshrined in the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame. Later in 2007, Holmes was inducted into the Texas Athletics Hall of Honor.
